How do rehabilitation clinicians make decisions regarding client safety, risk and growth, and what factors influence their ability to promote independence and choice in tāngata whaikaha?
An overview of how rehabilitation was developed, how rehabilitation care has evolved, and ongoing improvement work as we move into the future.
Anna Hobman-Spice is a Clinical Exercise Physiologist, currently working in a rehabilitation advisory role at Veterans Affairs (NZ Defence Force). Anna completed the research she is presenting as a research assistant along with Paul Skirrow (Psychological Medicine, University of Otago) and Rachelle Martin and Jean Hay-Smith (Rehabilitation, University of Otago).
Steph Thompson is the NZRA President. She works at Te Whatu Ora – Capital, Coast and Hutt Valley as an Allied Health Consultant in Rehabilitation. Her work is a mix of clinical practice as a physiotherapist in an early supported discharge service for people post-stroke and clinical leadership, with a current focus on service improvement across the rehabilitation continuum of care.
