What will I find on this website?

This website is for people interested or involved in rehabilitation in New Zealand. The main focus of our website is on sharing and debating information related to contemporary issues in rehabilitation within New Zealand or overseas. Content for the website is provided by website columnists and sorted according to content types and topics. We also provide information about upcoming events and courses related to rehabilitation as well as links to other organisations of interest.

This website is open to everyone regardless of their background. However some items are intended more specifically for people from health professional backgrounds. These items have been marked as ‘technical’ when they are listed on the website.

How do I find my way around this website?

There are four main ways to navigate your way around this website.

  1. By content types
  2. By content topics
  3. Using the ‘search’ function
  4. Using the site map

1) Navigating by content types

Look at the left hand menu. At the top there is a heading ‘Content Types’. Content types include:

  • 'News’ items about current events in the health and disability sector within NZRA, New Zealand or further a field.
  • ‘Columns’ that present personal perspectives, reflections on recent experiences or issues, or other bric-à-brac.
  • ‘Interviews’ with people involved in rehabilitation in New Zealand.
  • 'Research': Reviews of recent rehabilitation research articles
  • Reviews of ‘Internet-base Resources’ related to disability and rehabilitation.
  • Reviews of ‘Textbooks’ and ‘other media’ (such as movies) related to disability and rehabilitation.

Click one of these subheadings and you will be taken to a list of items on our website that have been grouped under that subheading. The items are listed by date, with the more recent items appearing first. For each item a short introductory blurb has been provided. If you want to read more about any one item, click on the title to that item or the words ‘Read more’ at the end of the blurb. This will take you to the full article.

2) Navigating by content topics

Look at the left hand menu. Under the heading 'Topics' are four subheadings 'Organisations & politics', 'In the clinic', 'People & relationships', and 'In the community'. Click on each subheading to see a list of website articles related to that topic. Again, if you want to read more about any one item, just click on the title to that item or on the words 'Read more'.

Also note however that when you click on one of these four subheadings, a list of further subheadings appears in the left hand menu. You can click on one of these new subheadings to further limit your search of the website.

3) Using the 'search' function

Enter a word or short phrase in the box labelled 'Search for' in the bar at the top of this website. Click on the 'Go' button. The results will show any page in our website that includes that word or phrase as a text word.

You can further limit your search by clicking on the box that says 'Whole website', then clicking on one of the Content Types or Topics from the dropdown menu. Alternatively, you can enter the content type or topic in this box by typing it in.  (Only the first level 'topics' - i.e. 'Organisations & politics', 'In the clinic', 'People & relationships', and 'In the community' - can be entered in this way.)   Then click on the 'Go' button again.

4) Using the site map

To visit the site map, click here. The site map is a list of all the pages on our website, grouped by their headings and subheading. A site map can be an easy way to find specific information, particularly if you are browsing this website using a screenreader or similar.

You can also access the site map using a keyboard shortcut. To read more about this, click here.

Commenting on articles, columns or items on this website

Our website has a comments functions.  This allows you to post your own response to content on the website for others to see.  We welcome your comments!  In fact, we would like to see more exchange of ideas between the various people involved at different levels and in different ways in rehabilitation in New Zealand.  So please, try it out.  All types of posts related to website content are encouraged: from the very erudite to the merely conversational.  Please feel free to just post us some words of encouragement if you read anything you found interesting or informative.

To use the comments function look at the bottom of any webpage containing a full article, column or other item on this website.  Under the heading 'leave a comment' enter your name, email address and your comments.  Your email address will not be published on the website or anywhere else.  Complete the 'Word Verification' task.  (The word verification task is used to stop people flooding the website with automated junk messages - these are no fun for anyone.)  Click the 'Submit Comment' button.

The comments on this website are moderated - meaning that they may not appear immediately after being submitted.  If you have submitted a comment that doesn't appear on the website, please contact us to check what happened to it.

The number of comments an article or column has is shown next to the heading for that article or column.  The comments themselves appear at the bottom of the webpage, underneath the main article.
