AFRM/NIRR/NZRA Rehabilitation Conference 2009

 The AFRM/NIRR/NZRA Rehabilitation Conference 2009 will be held in Queenstown from 21-25 July.  (Visit www.rehabconference2009.org.nz for details.) The deadline for Early Bird Registration is closing 15 May 2009, so get in quick and register now!

The Australasian Faculty of Rehabilitation (AFRM), the National Institute of Rehabilitation Research (NIRR-NZ) and the New Zealand Rehabilitation Association (NZRA) are proud to be joint hosts of this conference which will focus on "Working together across the lifespan - An interdisciplinary approach to rehabilitation".  The conference will take place at Rydges Hotel in Queenstown, New Zealand on 21-25 July 2009 and incorporates the 17th Annual Scientific Meeting of the AFRM.

Guest speakers include:

Dr Harry McNaughton - 2009 Burniston Orator. Dr Harry McNaughton graduated MBChB from the University of Auckland in 1985 and subsequently FRACP from the Royal Australasian College of Physicians in1993 and FAFRM (Australian Faculty of Rehabilitation Medicine) from the RACP in 1997. His research and clinical practise has focused predominately on stroke and neurological rehabilitation. Read More>>

Dr Gale Whiteneck - 2009 Norington Lecturer. Dr Whiteneck has been the Director of Research at Craig Hospital in Englewood, Colorado since 1986. He is the Principal Investigator for three federal projects on spinal cord injury (SCI), traumatic brain injury (TBI), and mortality after TBI. His investigations focus on functional assessment, handicap/participation measurement, environmental impact assessment, and long-term outcomes. He is the author of three books and nearly 200 articles. Read More>>

Professor Gerold Stucki - professor and chairman of the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich (LMU), Germany and the director of Swiss Paraplegic Research in Nottwil, Switzerland. Dr Barrie Tait - graduated in Medicine from the University of Otago in 1959. During the 1960's he undertook postgraduate studies in England and France. Dr Tait trained in Physical Medicine at St Thomas' Hospital, London, with Dr James Cyriax and Dr Philippe Bowens, and in Rehabilitation Medicine with Dr Philip Nicholls and Prof Robert Duthie, at the Mary Marlborough Lodge, Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre, Oxford. Assoc Prof Michelle Sterling - Associate Director of the Centre of National Research on Disability and Rehabilitation Medicine (CONROD), NHMRC Research Fellow, Chief Investigator in the NHMRC Clinical Centre of Research Excellence: Spinal injury, Pain and Health and a Reader in the Division of Physiotherapy (all at The University of Qld).
