Stay Up Late Campaign

Ok, I admit it – I heard about this one on the BBC’s Ouch! Podcast.  But to those of you who missed it, I thought this might tickle your fancy.  In a nutshell the ‘Stay Up Late Campaign’ is a fight for the right to party.  Led by Heavy Load – a UK punk band consisting of musicians both with and without intellectual disability – the Campaign boils down to putting a halt to people with learning disabilities having to leave clubs and music gigs early because their staff finish their shifts at 10pm. Other than saying ‘Rock on, dudes!’ I’ll leave you to visit the website yourself to find out more.

If you have broadband, check out Heavy Load’s music video on YouTube by clicking here.  (If that doesn’t work – go to the Youtube website and search for ‘Heavy Load punk’ for the clip.)  Heavy Load describes their sound as similar to ‘The Fall having a bare knuckle fight with Bros’.  If you don’t know who ‘The Fall’ is, you perhaps should proceed with caution!  You have been warned! ;-)
