Wendi Wicks is the national policy researcher for DPA (New Zealand) Inc. - the national organisation of disabled people in New Zealand.
DPA is an umbrella organisation with members who are disabled individuals across the full spectrum of impairment and age, family members and disability organizations. DPA’s advocacy for the issues of disabled people is grounded in human rights principles of equity and participation.
Wendi writes and researches on diverse aspects of disability, notably bioethics, employment, abuse and violence and women’s health from a social model perspective. She is particularly interested in innovative practices that are led by disabled people and improve how we experience our livesand in media images of disability.
