About the NZRA
The New Zealand Rehabilitation Association (NZRA), Inc. is a non-profit organisation, and NZ Registered Charity, for anyone interested in rehabilitation services in New Zealand. Many of our members are health professionals working in different areas of rehabilitation in New Zealand, but we also have members who are: people who use health and disability services and their family members, health and disability advocates, employees within health funding agencies (such as ACC and the Ministry of Health), as well as researchers and academics.
The main objectives of the NZRA are to:
- To provide leadership and to advocate for excellence in rehabilitation in NZ,
- To promote interest in and support opportunities for education, training and research of rehabilitation in NZ at a public, clinical and political level, and
- To connect people involved in rehabilitation nationally and internationally
About this website
The main purpose of this website is to share and exchange ideas about rehabilitation in New Zealand. While we do provide some links to information and support groups for people with disabilities and to organisations for specific health professional groups, this website is intended more as a forum for discussion and debate. We welcome your contribution! To learn to how make best use of this website and how to find your way around it by visiting our website guide.
This website was created by the NZRA in partnership with:
- The National Assembly of People with Disabilities (DPA) New Zealand, Inc.
- The University of Otago's Rehabilitation Teaching and Reseach Unit (from Wellington)
- Massey University's College of Humanities and Social Sciences
- AUT University
Funding was provided by the NZ Digital Strategy's Community Partnership Fund.

NZRA membership
The NZRA is a non-profit organisation that relies heavily on the voluntary contribution of time from its members and executive members. Becoming a financial member of the NZRA provides support for the organisation to continue its activities. NZRA membership fees are used to kick-start projects such as conferences and the development of the NZRA website, as well as for the purchase of services necessary for running the Association (such as annual financial audits). Financial members can become involved in the management and direction of the NZRA and vote in NZRA Annual General Meetings. NZRA members are automatically subscribed to the website newsletter (in other words, you do not have to do this separately). A special rate for membership currently applies - only $1 per year. Registered membership runs from 1 April in the current year to 31 March of the following year.
